Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Summary
- No accounts, no sign-up, no forms that collect personal information.
- Your VIN is not sent to our server. Your browser sends it directly to NHTSA's public API (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov and api.nhtsa.gov) to get the decode and recalls. NHTSA's own privacy policy applies to those requests.
- The last VIN you decoded may appear in the page address after "#"; that part of the address is not sent to any server.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, our web server receives standard technical data (IP address, browser type, page requested, time) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to identify you.

You may opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings, aboutads.info and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Settings such as dark mode and text size are saved only in your browser's local storage.
Your U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws may have rights to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may be considered "sharing" under some laws; see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required.
